• GreenBuilt Tours: How To Organize a Successful Tour of Sustainable Architecture (.pdf file) A very detailed manual on how to run a home tour from getting sponsors, choosing homes and organizing volunteers to advertising and making effective directional signs.
  
  
• City of Santa Rosa Green Building Program Conceptual Plan and Implementation Plan (.doc file) Two planning documents from the City of Santa Rosa are available for use as models in developing a local government education and outreach program for the residential sector. The documents were developed in 2003 through a City-organized program development team and advisory task force. Both committees included extensive participation from a diverse set of stakeholders within the community.
  
  

Policies

• Alameda County Waste Management Authority has posted a model construction and demolition ordinance, along with ordinances from Castro Valley Sanitary District, City of Dublin, City of Hayward, City of Livermore, City of Oakland, and City of San Leandro.
  
  
• Recycling Space Allocation Guide was compiled by the California Integrated Waste Management Board to assist local agencies in developing recycling space allocation ordinances. It includes sample provisions of several ordinances passed or proposed by local agencies. The guide also includes the Integrated Waste Management Board's model ordinance related to collection and loading of recyclable materials in development projects (Appendix A). • U.S. Department of Energy's Smart Communities Network offers a number of sustainability sample codes and ordinances and specific green building codes and ordinances from around the country.
  
  
• Marin County (.pdf file) has an ordinance requiring all buildings over 3500sf to not use more energy than one at 3,500 square feet.
  
  
• San Mateo County has adopted a Sustainable Building Policy that requires future County buildings to be built to LEED standards, as developed by the US Green Building Council.

• AIA Committee on the Environment provides an excellent guideline tool, sample RFPs, and lessons learned for professionals who are writing requests for proposals or qualifications from , design and construction professionals.
  
  

Specifications

• Reference Specifications for Energy and Resource Efficiency Eley Associates, through a grant from the California Energy Commission's Public Interest Energy Research (PIER) program, has developed a set of reference specifications for users to select from and insert into their construction documents.
  
  
• EPA Region 7 has developed a Green Rider (.pdf file) of green construction specifications
  
  
• Greenspec contains detailed listings for more than 1,650 green building products with environmental data, manufacturer information, and links to additional resources. It also provides sample Guideline Specifications by CSI Division to incorporate into your project specs.
